That is precisely why Ultraviolette is interesting: it does not fit inside that box. Nor does it make much effort to do so. It behaves more like an aviation-inspired, software-armoured motorcycle startup that also puts real production machines on the road.

From a motorcycling perspective, India is not a side story but a main character. It has a vast domestic market, everyday use of two-wheelers, enormous volumes and an exceptionally demanding buying environment. A motorcycle there is not a hobby object displayed in a cabinet; it is often a work tool, family transport, an urban survival machine and a status symbol at the same time. If a technology can prove viable there, that is already a meaningful first test.

Not a hastily assembled electric motorcycle, but a long development journey

Ultraviolette was founded in 2016 and, according to the manufacturer’s own timeline, went through several generations of prototypes, battery development and testing before the F77 reached its current European market launch. That distinction matters. The brand is not trying to make a splash by saying “here is a cheap electric alternative”. Instead, it puts performance, design and battery technology in the opening sentence.

According to the manufacturer, the F77 became one of the season’s most highly awarded electric motorcycles in 2024, international operations began, and the F99 racing platform set a quarter-mile record. By 2025, the SuperStreet had also arrived, the F77 was officially available in more than ten European countries, and the company had expanded its portfolio with new models. This is no longer a promise that smells of a prototype; it is an export strategy.

India is approaching the market differently from China

The Chinese electric two-wheeler market can manufacture cheap, simple urban machines in extraordinary volumes. That is a real and powerful model. Ultraviolette, however, does not want to compete in that arena. It is building around premium feel, technology and motorcycle identity rather than the lowest possible price. That also makes it interesting for Europe: not “cheaper because it comes from far away”, but “different because it comes from a different engineering culture”.

The F77 is a strong calling card in this respect. Its 10.3 kWh battery, 30 kW of peak power, 100 Nm of torque, 231 km of WMTC urban range, Bosch ABS, IP67-rated battery enclosure and smart connectivity features together signal that the manufacturer is not afraid of big numbers. More importantly, it wants to make an impact not only with those figures, but also with the user experience built around them.

Why is this good for us?

Because electric motorcycling no longer has to mean choosing between two extremes. The options are no longer limited to a small urban scooter or a very expensive Western premium machine. Ultraviolette offers a third route: a powerful, striking and technologically bold electric motorcycle that also asks uncomfortable value-for-money questions of established players.

And yes, there is a measure of pride in this too. Not because the arrival of a new brand is a miracle in itself, but because an electric motorcycle is finally coming closer to Hungarian buyers without apologising. It does not ask forgiveness for being electric. It does not say that perhaps one day it will be good enough. It says: here I am, look at the figures, get on, and then let us talk.

Explore the Ultraviolette brand page, or compare the F-77 MACH 2 and F-77 SuperStreet models.

India’s motorcycle market is large and diverse.
